The gov't gets to keep a defendant's DNA sample, even after he has completed his SR. The 9th says that it can trust the gov't not to misuse the sample, or to use it for purposes other than identification. Dissenting, Reinhardt laments the failure of courts to stand up for constitutional principles, and to trust the gov't far too much.
